Did you know Chandler was founded in 1912 by a veterinarian named Alexander Chandler. Dr. Chandler had been purchasing land in the area that became Chandler for twenty years prior to the town's founding. Within a year of its founding Chandler housed several opulent facilities including Arizona's first golf resort and the Hotel San Marcos. Also founded with the town was Chandler High School which operates to this day with the distinction of being one of the oldest high schools in the state (as well as being noted for exceptional academics).
