Did you know Fairfield, California was founded over one hundred and fifty years ago. It's prominence at that time was assured thanks to some business and political savvy of its founder, an ex ship captain by the name of Robert H. Waterman. Robert Waterman decided to try and have the county seat moved to Fairfield, and was able to successfully persuade the local government to relocate the seat of the county there. In return he allowed a sizable plot of land to be used exclusively for government facilities. Today Fairfield's economy has diversified and the city houses some unique facilities such as Travis Air Force Base as well as candy giant Jelly Belly's jelly bean factory.
