Did you know Moreno Vally has an interesting early history, starting back in the late 1800's. American settlers started traveling to California once it gained official statehood and settlements consisting mostly of farms began cropping up in the area that is now Moreno Valley. The water necessary to sustain these farms was delivered by a company named Bear Valley Land and Water, and was owned and operated by Frank E. Brown. Unfortunately for both Mr. Brown and the farmers in the valley, Mr. Brown lost his ability to deliver the water because of a eminenet domain lawsuit which he lost. Ever since, the valley has been reffered to as 'Moreno Valley' in honor of Mr. Brown (moreno being the spanish word for 'brown').
