Did you know Sacramento's economic viability has been the key to its success since its establishment in 1848. In fact, it was founded because of the success of a trading post and landing housed on the intersection of the Sacramento and American Rivers. The original owner of the facility had given it to his son, a man named John Sutter, Jr. who immediately recognized the trading potential of the site. John Sutter, Jr. went about planning a community in the area. He recruited the assistance of two men, William Warner and William Sherman, who were experienced officials. After looking over the property, they designed and plotted the town which is now the city of Sacramento.
