Did you know San Bernardino has one of the longest histories of any city in California. The earliest San Bernardino settlements date back to the beginning of the eighteen hundreds. The settlement stayed fairly desolate until California became associated with the United Sates of America in the mid eighteen hundreds. During this time several pioneers from Utah operating under the directive of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints came to the area; although their settlement was not permanent as they were called back by their Church to aid in its efforts during the Utah War. Despite the departure of some of its early residents, San Bernardino developed into a thriving community.
